It's members tithed themselves in the same way that SWP members do now, and the bulk of its money was raised that way. The funding from Moscow came in two main ways: thousands of 'subscriptions' to the Morning Star, and the occasional plain brown envelope which was quickly distributed to organisers around the country. We'll never know quite how much this amounted to, but we can be pretty sure that the CPGB was funded substantially more from membership fees then than any of the main political parties are now.<BR/><BR/>Just thought I'd set the record straight. ;)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
