Tracing the lost River Westbourne
Another lost London river. This time it's the Westbourne, which rose at Hampstead Heath and flowed to the Thames at Chelsea.
I wonder if you'd like the Rivers of London books by Ben Aaronovitch? They feature lost London rivers, and the sort of sense of place that appeals to you, but also mysteries and various other esoterica, combined with police procedures.
