This <a href="https://www.bfi.org.uk/news-opinion/news-bfi/features/behind-scenes-night-hunter" rel="nofollow">BFI piece</a> bears out the first point.<br /><br />It says much for both men that the undoubtedly heterosexual Mitchum got on so well with Laughton, whose homosexuality was no secret in Hollywood.
