Steam in the Somerset coalfield
Reader's voice: The Somerset coalfield?
Liberal England replies: Yes, the Somerset coalfield. There is also some footage from Wales.
I think much of the coal from the Somerset collieries went to Portishead to the two Power Stations there but the B Station was converted to oil firing in the mid 1960s and the A station was closed in 1977 (I think) so that took what was left of the main market for the coal from Somerset.
