Rio Ferdinand Syndrome

I have noticed a worrying outbreak. Liberal Democrat bloggers have started to refer to themselves in the third person the way that egotistical sportsmen do.

See what I mean?

Theo Butt Philip pays tribute to Sir Menzies Campbell

Chris and Glynis come out for Cleggy

Jonathan Calder condemns new fashion.

Later. And there's Glyn & Irene Nightingale Back Nick Clegg. I think I am on to something.

  1. Oh heck! You are quite right. It seemed more personal than "we".

  3. Don't be so critical. I think old Theo should have gone for the full: "Theodore Butt Phillip pays tribute to the Right Honourable Sir Menzies Campbell CBE QC".

Oh, and by the way, I think Lord Bonkers ought to adjudicate on the difference between "sock garters" and "sock suspenders" taking into account the difference between the British and American phraseology for this particular subject.

Oh, and by the way, don't you have headlines saying "Lord Bonkers on sock garters" and so forth so aren't you being a touch hypowhatsit.

How about "Lord Bonkers pays tribute to......"?

  4. I am not Lord Bonkers, nor was meant to be.

On the great garters/suspenders debate: as I understand it, gentlemen like Lord B and Ming would wear suspenders while Cub Scouts (jumpers for goalposts, wasn't it?) used to wear garters.

  6. People have mentioned that.

All I know about my background is that I was found on the steps of the Home for Well-Behaved Orphans.
