Stuart Syvret arrested

Latest news here.

According to the BBC News website, the Jersey senator and blogger Stuart Syvret was arrested this morning and spent six hours in custody helping police with their inquiries into alleged breaches of data protection laws.

The Jersey blog A View from the West says the Lib Dem MP John Hemming has written to the justice secretary Jack Straw asking him to monitor the arrest:
I am worried that this seems to be an arrest driven by political motivations. Senator Syvret has recently revealed detailed evidence relating to a nurse in Jersey who may have murdered a number of patients. He has also been working with me to try to get the rule of law to operate in respect of the investigations into child abuse in children's homes on Jersey.
