Six of the Best 49

Liberal Democrat Voice has an account and video of today's Liberal Democrat flashmobs.

Also on Liberal Democrat Voice, which is clearly having a Good War, we learn that a number of celebrities have endorsed the party. And a pretty cool list it is too, though to my generation, John Noakes or Valerie Singleton would be more impressive than Floella Benjamin.

We mentioned the other day that Nick Clegg had visited Redcar. Chris and Glynis Abbott have some photographs of the day. I love the Labour councillor at the end.

Mars Hill has a Shirley Williams election broadcast and some television coverage from 1974. Politics on Mars.

Writing for The New Yorker, Hendrik Hertzberg, an enthusiast for PR, hopes the Liberal Democrats will do well: "if the Mother of Parliaments were finally to rejuvenate herself, the change would rejuvenate throughout her offspring in the English-speaking world. The Australians and the New Zealanders have already made moves away from “first past the post” single-member, plurality winner-take-all districts, but the Canadians, the Indians, and the Americans need to get the message."

And for cricket fans, Down at Third Man concludes his consideration of the career of Doug Insole.
