Liberal Democrats retain control of two Leicestershire councils

There was some consolation here in Leicestershire among the gloom of Thursday's local elections. The Liberal Democats retained control of both Hinckley & Bosworth and Oadby & Wigston district councils.

In Hinckley & Bosworth we lost one seat, as did Labour, and the Conservatives gained two. This means the make up of the new council is: Lib Dem 18, Conservative 15, Labour 1.

In Oadby & Wigston we gained two seats from the Conservatives making the balance of the new council: Liberal Democrats 23, Conservatives 3.

It is also worth noting that the BNP lost their two seats on North West Leicestershire.
