Further under Shropshire


Yesterday brought news of the rescue of a woman from the old mines at Snailbeach. Today we learn from the Shropshire Star of the discovery of a previously unsuspected cave in Bridgnorth that "could be hundreds of years old and may once have been lived in".

The Cartway is the steep, curving Bridgnorth street that packhorses once used to bring goods from the wharves of Low Town on the Severn to the top of the cliff and High Town. It is shown in the photo above.
