Manchester Victoria and Rainhill on the last day of British Rail steam
There is no sound, but this film is still very atmospheric. And today the diesel locomotives you see at Victoria have period interest too.
I also like the nervous near-coupling between diesel and steam. Guess who's coming to the depot?
I should point out that this was not the last day of steam on British Rail. It WAS the last day of main-line / standard gauge. Steam was retained on the narrow gauge Vale of Rheidol line, operated by British Rail.
