Durham in 1960
This film about new developments in traffic control has some lovely shots of the city in the year I was born.
Hi Jonathan! A bit OT: Though I've never been to Durham, I know a few things - because Durham is twinned with my German home town Tübingen. And even more OT: Everybody here is laughing about Blair's seasons greetings card http://www.spiegel.de/panorama/leute/tony-blair-netz-spottet-ueber-weihnachtskarte-des-ex-premiers-a-1006379.html
I lived near Durham in the late 1960s and well remember the policeman in his traffic box in the square. Even some of the shop fronts are familiar. And weren't the streets better looking without hundreds of thousand of pounds of public money wasted on countless roadsigns and other ugly street furniture cluttering up the view?
