Dr Paul Bremner is a member of Harborough District Council and lives in Market Harborough.
It is fair to say he is not a widely known in Market Harborough either, but a quote he gave to the Leicester Mercury suggests he has grasped the essentials of Leicester politics:
“Labour took people for a merry ride, and what we have now is council run by a small cartel of individuals around a mayor with absolute power. The city is being run without transparency.”
He does work in Leicester, at De Montfort University, where he is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Pharmacy.
ReplyDeleteAnother post-scrapping referendum promise - give me strength! Based on my experience from Germany I'm very much in favour of the concept of elected mayors, and I fully agreed with the editorial on the subject that was published in the Leicester Mercury opinion piece back in November 2010 under the heading "Election for mayor will beat apathy". The piece is still available online at http://tinyurl.com/k9qpr74
ReplyDeleteA he has a possible vote winner a promise to hold a referendum to abolish the post
ReplyDeleteIs there any point to the election?
ReplyDeleteThe only way Soulsby will lose is if he drops dead (or Gary Lineker stands against him).
