King's Lynn to Hunstanton with John Betjeman

This film was made in 1962, seven years before the line closed. Some still dream of reopening it.

Lovely evocative stuff from Sir John. I love his tones and inflections. The scenery is very firmly fixed in the '50s

I enjoyed this but noticed two things that Betjeman didn't talk about. He refrained from comment on the caravan park which the train passed. He enthused about Hunstanton without mentioning that it lies on the west coast of Norfolk, a topographical treat for the unwary. As a tribute to Sir John and in memory of Chard Town around the corner from my house, I suggest http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6OHD2uCpfU
