Another 20 years on and I find Shami Chakrabarti is set on the same path. As one viewer put it last night:

The NCCL itself began as a Communist front organisation (what I think is now called a "sock-puppet"). NCCL/Liberty has since become more mainstream and perhaps will finish up as a voice for the knights of the shires.
