Farewell Ennio Morricone
I have just seen a clip of Morricone saying his music for spaghetti westerns was not his best work, but I still think this is wonderful.
Once upon a time in the West is arguably not a "spaghetti" western, given its casting and locations. All right, Spain was used as well as Monument Valley, but the worst you can say is that it was a part-paella Western. Sergio Leone himself had higher aspirations for this production than the ones he made his early money from.
Prior to his death and the commemorations thereof, I had not heard of Morricone (I don't think I've seen any of the films he scored), but I had heard some of his work, at the Lloyd George museum in Llanystumdwy!

I've been there a number of times, as my parents have a caravan nearby. I had no idea who was the author of the track, or that it reached number 2 in the charts.
I was a little disappointed to hear that it isn't about Lloyd George as such, since it was written 10 years before the TV series about Lloyd George in which it was used, but still a good coincidence.
