Relax: You can still read the thoughts of Lembit Opik

New blow to faltering Liberal Democrats as London Mayoral candidate Lembit Opik loses his weekly newspaper column with the Daily Sport
trills Another Green World.

Had its writer been as dedicated to research as I was earlier this evening, he would have visited the Sport's Lembit Opik archive. There he would have found that the former Lib Dem MP has not written for the paper since he went off to the jungle. (If you try to access that archive now you will find that the paper's website is not working properly. Pray God someone kept a copy. Later. Thanks to the commenter below who points out that most of Lembit's Sport columns are here.)

But Lembit fans should relax. Because there is one paper where you still can read his thoughts.

Step forward the County Times. This newspaper, which covers Powys, features a regular In My Opinion column from the great man. His latest column (dated 31 March) treats us to his views on Libya.

Despite the excellence of the South Shropshire Journal, the County Times has a following on the Shropshire side of the border too. I have to record that I have heard some bemusement at Lembit's continued presence in its columns expressed in those parts.

Perhaps he will give up this column when he becomes Mayor of London?
