Restoration of Bishop's Castle Town Hall to go ahead

Good news from this blog's second home in the Shropshire hills. The South Shropshire Journal reports that the Heritage Lottery Fund has agreed to provide development funding of £56,500 towards the restoration of Bishop's Castle Town Hall:
The main features of the project are: to restore the building’s fabric to its original sustainable condition using traditional materials and skills; to provide disabled access and internal access to modern toilet facilities; improve energy efficiency and heating and to enhance the public spaces within the Town Hall, particularly the market hall, to accommodate a range of new uses including heritage learning, art, drama, music and social activities, alongside all its current civic and economic uses.
The newspaper says that the project will involve relocating the town's visitor information centre. At present you will find it at the excellent Old Time.
