In the late 'forties Mrs Gladstone, who was a great favourite of the Queen, sometimes took her children, Willy and Agnes, to Windsor Castle, and the Queen told Gladstone later that "their frank demeanour and childish pranks" made her "laugh heartily".There was a favourite of Queen Victoria in my family too.
