Captain Clegg: The movie

Just before Christmas I suggested that the 1962 Hammer film Captain Clegg could provide a new poster for the Liberal Democrats and inspiration to its leader on enforcing party discipline.

A tweet from Duncan Stott kindly points out that the whole film is available on YouTube. I can't embed it, but part 1 is here.

Ah, and have you been listening to Rufus Sewell's rather splendid reading of the stories on BBC7? They've broadcast them a few times, and the current set's well into The Further Adventures of Dr Syn ('secret identity' of notorious pirate Captain Clegg and brigand the Scarecrow), with the last week's available on iPlayer...

Captain Clegg oh come on he'll never be more than a lookout on the good ship UK as icebergs multiply in ever increasing numbers in the polluted seas that surround us. He might be liberal in his views but his actions are far from democratic as the voting public are becoming more aware of.

I can't help but think of "Corporal Clegg" off Floyd's A Saucerful of Secrets...
