Armenia withdraws from Eurovision Song Contest

... our main enemies are Armenians of the world and the hypocritical and corrupt politicians under their control
said the President of Azerbaijan, adopting the same tone as those who believe in a worldwide Jewish conspiracy.

As a result of these words Armenia has withdrawn from the Eurovision Song Contest, which is being held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in May.

There has long been tension between the two nations and, as BBC News reports:
Azerbaijani and Armenian forces fought a war over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh in the 1990s which left at least 25,000 people dead.
Nagorno-Karabakh is within Azerbaijan but most of its population is ethnically Armenian. The mother of the former world chess champion Garry Kasparov was an Armenian from the region.

Still, that's one less song for Engelbert to worry about.
