Vince Cable regrets "Mr Bean" jibe
Vince Cable, the best leader that the Lib Dems never had, told me over the weekend that he now rather regrets dubbing Gordon Brown “Mr Bean” in a famous question he posed in the Commons.
“It’s a joke that won’t go away but it makes me wince a bit whenever anyone brings it up because Brown has obviously become a rather tragic character and it doesn’t seem appropriate to make fun of him any more,” says Cable. “I also have this awful feeling now that when I die the headline on the obituaries will read “'Mr Bean’ man dies."
