Nick Clegg cleans windows in Bristol

The Glasgow Herald reports:
Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg rolled up his sleeves yesterday to clean windows at a hostel for the homeless.

The MP washed two windows at the five-storey Salvation Army-run block in Bristol to see how social enterprise company Aspire provides jobs for the long- term unemployed and homeless.
I'm not sure why this story made it into a Glasgow paper. Anyway, follow this link for a video of the event.

Didn't George Formby write a song about this?

Eeeh - turned out nice again

(I bothered to follow the link)

GF used to have a house on the Norfolk Broads and it gets pointed out on a daily basis even though he's been dead for 48 years.

I have now watched the video.

It makes a change from "My Little Stick Of Blackpool Rock", which I understand Clegg has performed no more than thirty times.

Don't forget the other Formby window-cleaner classic:

"Mr Clegg's a window cleaner now", anyone?

There was a short clip of the Clegg event on a TV channel that I happened to see. He looked decidedly shaky.
