I have been to Matlock Bath in Derbyshire, which is a little piece of Blackpool set down in the incomparable Derwent valley. There are one or two good shops there - notably Fabric Design - and I did find a Buddhist cafe.
But it was closed.

I once got to drive a steam locomotive to Matlock Bath.
I still associate Matlock Bath on a Bank Holiday Monday with crazed gangs of bikers from Nottingham, Derby & Sheffield converging on this poor unsuspecting resort.
The ABC regional news of my childhood was always marked with the death of a biker on the A6 due to some false bravado as people tried to take those bends at speed.
