As I remark there:
It is pretty heavy psychoanalytic stuff and I am not sure how much use it would be to a captain who was trying to defend a low target against Somerset on the fourth day at Weston.Still there is a good anecdote (though they are not named by Brearley) about Keith Fletcher and Colin Cowdrey.
The parallels Brearley draws between the psyches of Cowdrey and Hitler are instructive.
