From the Manchester Evening News:
A battle of big-hitters could be sparked in Manchester by a by-election in one of the most coveted Labour-held seats in the country.
The M.E.N revealed yesterday that Manchester Central MP Tony Lloyd is set to stand for election as Greater Manchester’s first police commissioner. If successful, it would mean having to give up the seat he has held since 1997.
Today, we can reveal that Lucy Powell, a senior aide to Labour leader Ed Miliband, is among those expected to go for the seat.
