David Howarth retires to spend more time with his books

David Howarth, the Liberal Democrat MP for Cambridge, has announced that he will be leaving the Commons at the next general election to concentrate upon his academic career.

I shall be sorry to see him go. He is one of the most able and Liberal of our MPs.

Still, an attractive seat has suddenly become available. As a service to ambitious young Lib Dems, here is the Visit Cambridge website.

Truly a great loss to the Liberal cause, I hope David is ennobled very quickly so we can still benefit from his great intellect and humanity.
