Unauthorised absence from school

There is a piece on the BBC website trying to make us all worry about parents who take their children out of school for holidays during term time.

I was struck by a comment by the minister, Keven Brennan:
"Travel companies have a role to play in keeping prices competitive during school holidays."
The government insists that family holidays are taken in a limited number of weeks in the year. They then complain when the price of holidays goes up during those weeks.

What exactly did they expect to happen?

a) They're idiotic.

b) They are competitive. They rise and fall according to demand. Can someone spare Labour a dictionary.
