Husbands Bosworth canal tunnel

The canal tunnel at Husbands Bosworth lies on the long summit level of the Leicester Section of the Grand Union.

It is unusual in that the path that the horses took over the hill while men legged boats through can still be followed. I walked it on Saturday and took this shot of a cabin cruiser entering the tunnel's western portal.

Cf. Hincaster tunnel on the northern reaches of the Lancaster Canal, where the canal is no longer in use but the horse path is.
