Bernard Righton the politically correct comedian

I remember this act from the early 1990s. It turns out to have been an early incarnation of John Thomson.

There is a longer set from Bernard Righton elsewhere on Youtube, but this gives you a good idea of what his act was like.

Later. The shorter video has disappeared, so here is the longer one.

"There's a black fella, a Pakistani and a Jewish bloke. What a wonderful example of an integrated community!"

Great stuff.

John Thomson in character as Bernard Righton supported Steve Coogan on his Live and Lewd tour in the early 90s. He is the "compere" for the show introducing Coogan's various characters on the video for that if you can find it. I still have it on VHS somewhere.

It's just not very funny though

Which is why it disappeared without trace.

Bill Hicks is funny.

You are missing the point, Anon; it's funny because it's not funny. The PC brigade's reputation for humourlessness is being cleverly mocked.

No, you are missing the point, DC. It's lampooning the racist, homophobic comedy of 70s comedians like Bernard Manning. And adding "brigade" to something does not bolster your argument one iota.
