The mention of
Virginia Woolf in Six of the Best this evening put me irresistibly in mind of this scene from Alan Bennett's Forty Years On. (He is not playing the headmaster, as the blurb on Youtube suggests, but the schoolmaster Tempest.)

Its combination of high literary pastiche and low puns is very much to my taste.
