The Kinks: Do You Remember Walter



Pete Quaife, the original bass player with The Kinks, died last week. That is a good reason for choosing this track from the LP The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society - my "3-CD special deluxe edition" has four different versions of it.

It is also one of the disappointingly few songs to mention cricket.

In 2005 Pete Quaife said of this album:
Making that album was the high point of my career. It is something of which I am very proud. For me it represents the only real album made by the Kinks! It is probably the only album made by us in which we all contributed something! Good, good album!

Quite possibly the best song Ray Davies ever wrote, and that's saying something...
