I've written an article for Central Bylines looking at the prospects for the Liberal Democrats as the new political season begins.
Despite the rather triumphalist headline, I've done my best to be objective.
Liberal Democrat Blog of the Year 2014
"Well written, funny and wistful" - Paul Linford; "He is indeed the Lib Dem blogfather" - Stephen Tall
"Jonathan Calder holds his end up well in the competitive world of the blogosphere" - New Statesman
"A prominent Liberal Democrat blogger" - BBC Radio 4 Today; "One of my favourite blogs" - Stumbling
and Mumbling; "Charming and younger than I expected" - Wartime Housewife
Despite the rather triumphalist headline, I've done my best to be objective.
An interesting article, and I enjoyed reading it, but I am puzzled by the sentence "And it’s an odd fact that until recently Liberal Democrat candidates could pile up 20,000 votes in the Lincolnshire seats that now constitute Reform’s heartland." Did they really? I thought the fens and wolds of Lincolnshire were like the Gobi Desert when it comes to Liberal Democracy (which makes the recent improvements in the north of the county particularly gratifying.)
ReplyDeleteDid they really? Yes.
DeleteAnd thanks for your comments! Gainsborough and Horncastle was another surprisingly good seat for the Liberals and Lib Dems.
